JTProject: A Portable Project Format for JTDesigner

JTProject is JTDesigner's own portable, editable project format — the file you'd export to move a project between computers or back it up outside your browser. It's worth understanding clearly, including what it's explicitly not.

What JTProject is

A .jtproject file is a complete, editable snapshot of a project from any of JTDesigner's Studios — Design, Animation, Whiteboard, Video, Presentation, Spreadsheet or Word. Create a project in any Studio, export it as .jtproject, and you can hand that single file to another computer, import it, and continue editing exactly where you left off.

Why it exists

JTDesigner edits projects locally, in your browser, rather than requiring every project to live in a central cloud vault. That's a deliberate local-first design choice — but local-first workflows still need a way to move work between devices or keep a backup. JTProject is that mechanism: an explicit, portable file, under your control, rather than an invisible sync process.

What JTProject does NOT mean

This is the important part to get right: JTProject is not cloud synchronization. Exporting a .jtproject file does not automatically upload it anywhere or keep it in sync across your devices by itself — you (or an integration you explicitly set up, like connecting your own Google Drive) move the file. There's no background service silently syncing your projects to JTDesigner's servers.

If you want cross-device access without manually moving files, JTDesigner supports connecting your own Google Drive account to save and reopen .jtproject files. The files stay in your Drive, under your account — JTDesigner isn't hosting them on its own servers.
